We’re looking for a Head Coach/Co-Leader for our Nautsa’mawt FC Academy. In this position, you will help with duties that include:
virtual oversight and mentorship of the academy mentors and coordinator working in partnership with co-lead
co-creation of group and individual development sessions
working with our Dream Team to identify and develop local athletes and build our talent pipeline for the future.
activating your network to bring in expertise as needed to address development needs and goals of the athletes at the center.
ability to work well with others and our dream team
strong communication and teaching skills.
be a leader and role model representing Hope and Health carrying yourself in a good way.
virtual meetings with our dream team and academy mentors and athletes- sometimes during evenings.
reporting and reflecting on programming and development activities (written or verbal).
willing to travel throughout BC for programming and other events as required - including an annual sport for development travel adventure out of country.
Nautsa’mawt FC Academy is a program to provide holdout development for the next generation of “dream big” Indigenous athletes. The academy is a virtual platform to provide access and opportunity to aspiring athletes - across BC and inclusive of remote communities. Each athlete is paired with a mentor and works on Individual goals along with connecting to like minded aspiring youth athletes for group development experiences- virtually and in person.
Qualifications include:
Must be based in British Columbia.
C License (preferred)
Lived experience working with Indigenous athletes (preferably soccer specific).
Drivers license.
Consent to complete a Criminal Record Check.
If non-Indigenous, Indigenous cultural safety training is an asset.

Having a CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING of the Indigenous communities we serve with an incredible team of local coaches.
You MUST have a current or meet the requirements of a CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK and have RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION, as and when it is required.
ONBOARDING, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Attend onboarding training (this looks different depending on the role and time of year you join us).
Sign a pledge and join the Responsible Coaching Movement.
Certify in Respect in Sport, Committed to Kids and the NCCP Aboriginal Coaching Program (all costs for the programs and your time covered by Hope and Health).
You will be compensated for your time and all travel costs. The schedule is FLEXIBLE, works around the programming, best timing for the communities AND your LIFE.
You will receive a full KIT and SUPPLIES to deliver the program.
You will have the opportunity to partake in the UNIQUE, CUSTOMIZED FIELD TRIPS to SPORTING and other SPECIAL COMMUNITY EVENTS!
QUALIFICATIONS
This varies depending on the role, but in general:
For youth coaches, to be enrolled in school towards the completion of your diploma.
For 18+, preferred high school diploma, or attending university towards completion of an undergraduate degree (Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Psychology, First Nations Studies most relevant) and/or equivalent in experience.
Life and work experience that qualifies you to deliver our programming and work across Indigenous communities.
Sport exposure/experience and working with children and youth an asset. Soccer + Lacrosse technical knowledge is a bonus!
Proficient in Microsoft office.
Social media savvy is a bonus.
Experience in curriculum and program design and delivery is an asset.
